The National Bank of Tajikistan revoked the license of Western Union DP Vostok — the Russian operator of the Western Union money transfer system, TASS reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, led by Khokim Kholikzoda, this decision will not affect access to money transfer services in the country; the French operator — Western Union Network will join the money transfer system in the near future.
Citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan will have access to all money transfer services without opening an account in the payment system.
Western Union has suspended its operation in Russia and Belarus, effective March 24, 2022. Western Union DP Vostok LLC said in its statement to the Bank of Russia about its exclusion from the register of payment system operators. The company’s representatives stated that this strategic decision happened in response to changes in the legislation of these countries.
