Most popular sectors for social contract in Kyrgyzstan announced

Most often, citizens start an agriculture business.

According to the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan, the most popular sectors for a social contract in 2022 and 2023 were agriculture, manufacturing and services, the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Ministry reports that 71 percent of Social Contract projects are implemented in agriculture. Livestock farming is 68 percent of them. Manufacturing is the second most popular sector (16.4 percent). Sewing is 15 percent of business projects; the rest is the production of reinforced concrete products and windows, furniture workshops and crushing plants, soap making and dried fruit processing.

Services rank third — 6.4 percent of business projects. Services are rendered in the following niches: catering, taxi, construction, installation, household services, confectionery production, IT services, beauty salons, auto diagnostic centres and massage.

6.2 percent of programme participants are engaged in trading. Most often, they sell food products and medications.

«As expected, participants in the Social Contract programme opted to implement business projects in such popular sectors in the Republic as livestock farming and clothing production. These sectors are popular in rural areas. Services and trade are widespread in urban areas,» Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan Zhyldyz Polotova said.

She noted that some of the participants decided to implement creative business ideas in the education sector, the sale of medicines, the IT sector and the production of eco-friendly handmade soap.
