Kazakhstan mandates that citizens must be vaccinated

Vaccine refusal must be formalized in accordance with the rules.

Citizens of Kazakhstan and those who permanently stay in the country are required to receive a mandatory preventive vaccine against communicable and parasitic diseases, the Ministry of Health of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

This obligation is stated in Paragraph 4 of Article 85 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan On Public Health and Healthcare System dated July 7, 2020 and applies to natural entities who do not have medical contraindications.

«In accordance with Article 77 of the Code, citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan have the right to give informed consent to or refuse treatment and other medical interventions, including preventive vaccination,» the document signed by Acting Chairperson of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health Zaure Akhmetova states.

The regulations on voluntary informed consent or refusal to receive preventive vaccines have been updated in accordance with Order No. 150 On approval of the Sanitary Regulations «Sanitary and Epidemiological Requirements for Preventive Vaccination Campaigns» signed by the Acting Minister of Health of Kazakhstan on September 21, 2023.
