Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov held a meeting with the representatives of government agencies, trade unions, traders and retail outlet owners to discuss the demands of the market traders who had protested against the patent system.
The press office of the Government reported that Zhaparov noted a lack of outreach activities in the country, which led to a distorted understanding of changes in tax regime. He said certain forces are trying to use this lack of information to ‘shake up’ market traders.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers believes that most of citizens support the policy of strengthening the state and establishing order. He emphasised that the era of the bazaar economy and initial accumulation of capital is coming to an end, and the state is now working for the benefit of the people, and not in the interests of a few people who had corrupted our society.
In recent days, market traders have held rallies in major cities of Kyrgyzstan, demanding to preserve the patent system.
