Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia to implement projects worth $12 billion

The countries will cooperate in the chemical, energy, infrastructure, agricultural and IT sectors.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with a Saudi delegation led by Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih. The main result of the meeting was the signing of agreements on the implementation of joint projects worth $12 billion, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

The talks focused on strengthening and expanding partnerships between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. President Mirziyoyev highly evaluated the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation in recent years.

The parties signed the agreements on the implementation of joint projects in various fields, including the chemical, agricultural, information technology, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Another important issue under discussion was the implementation of projects in transport infrastructure, utilities, geology, irrigation, waste management, higher education and labour migration worth $11 billion.

The President of Uzbekistan approved the commissioning of a new 1.5 GW thermal power plant in Syrdarya Region and the start of construction of a pilot eco-friendly hydrogen generation plant in Tashkent Region.
