Duty-free imports of electric vehicles into some EAEU countries extended

This measure will not apply to Russian citizens; they are prohibited from transferring the rights to use such vehicles.

Duty-free imports of electric vehicles into the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be extended until the end of 2025. This measure, which was initially supposed to be terminated by December 31 this year, has been extended for a longer period, Sputnik reports referring to the press office of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

As reported, the decision to extend duty-free imports of electric vehicles to the EAEU was adopted by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, headed by Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The press office noted that only citizens permanently residing in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are eligible for exemption. Russian citizens and/or persons permanently residing in Russia are prohibited from transferring the rights of ownership, use or disposal of electric vehicles.

The previous benefit for limited duty-free imports of electric vehicles was supposed to be valid until the end of the year. If it is not extended, the duty rate will be 15 percent of the customs value of an electric vehicle.
