Moscow and Dushanbe almost entirely use national currencies to pay each other

The share of mutual payments in rubbles increased to 83 percent.

On November 21, RF President Vladimir Putin and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks in Moscow, the press office of the RF President reported the details of the visit.

Vladimir Putin noted that the share of mutual payments in national currencies increased significantly for the first 6 months of the year. The share of rubble transactions with Tajikistan reached 83 percent.

The two countries promote cooperation in the banking sector. Starting from 2022, citizens of Russia and Tajikistan can transfer money to their relatives using the Fast Payments Service (FPS).

Rahmon noted that he focused on expanding investment cooperation at the meeting with Putin. The parties agreed to implement large-scale investment projects in various sectors of Tajikistan’s economy. The President of Tajikistan said interstate cooperation in financial information has reached a new level, noting that the share of mutual payments in national currencies made up 82 percent.
