Kyrgyz citizens in Russia engaged in trade and construction

Half of those who arrived in Russia live in Moscow.

In the first half of 2023, the number of Kyrgyz citizens in the Russian Federation reached about 410,000. Over 200,000 Kyrgyz citizens live in Moscow and Moscow Region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan led by Jeenbek Kulubaev reported.

In the first half of 2023, the RF Ministry of Internal Affairs recorded 467,112 cases of migration registration of Kyrgyz citizens, among which 392,528 citizens were registered to work.

The main areas of employment of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia include wholesale and retail trade, construction, catering, hospitality and service sectors, processing industry, agriculture and real estate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan noted that about 100,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan are employed in the transport sector.

However, an outflow of foreign citizens from Russia has increased due to the difficult economic situation caused by Western sanctions and currency instability. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentions potentially more attractive labour markets in other countries, including Eastern Europe, UK, Germany, Turkey, UAE and South Korea.
