Banks in Uzbekistan have raised capital by 1.8 times

Moreover, 13 new private banks, some of which are the branches of foreign financial organisations, have been established in the Republic.

During the meeting led by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev it was reported that the banks in the country have raised their capital by 1.8 times over the past 3 years. The annual volume of loans has doubled, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

The most significant achievement of the Uzbek banks is the attraction of $1 billion on the international capital market. 4 banks have gained this result over the past 3 years. Moreover, 13 new private banks, including the financial institutions of Georgia, Kazakhstan and Hungary, have been established in Uzbekistan. The volume of banking services has improved and almost tripled.

The participants of the meeting reported that competition in Uzbekistan’s banking sector has increased significantly. The demand for banking services has grown. In this regard, the President emphasised the need to enhance reforms in the banking sector and identify priority tasks for future development.
