On November 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the construction site of the Olympic Town to inspect the progress of the project implementation. The main purpose of the Olympic Town project is to prepare Uzbekistan to host the 2025 Asian and Pan-Asian Youth Games, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.
The Olympic Town will provide all necessary facilities to practice the sports included in the programme of international competitions. The building complex will cover an area of 100 hectares, and Uzbekistan and the Chinese company CAMC Engineering are engaged in construction. To date, the foundation of the main building has been laid, and structures for five complexes have been installed. In total, about 1,000 workers and engineers, as well as special equipment, are engaged in construction.
Upon inspecting the progress of construction, the President gave instructions to adopt international practices and improve the territory adjacent to the Olympic Town. The President noted that the Olympic Town should be used and not stay idle after the Asian Games closed. In his opinion, the facility should interact with children’s sports schools in the future, creating a bridge from mass to professional sports.
