The Russian Language – a Bridge of Russia-Tajikistan Friendship Forum in Khojent brought together school principals and Russian language teachers. The forum marked the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication in the CIS Member States, the Telegram channel of the Russian House in Tajikistan reports.
A. P. Chekhov Russian-Tajik school provided one of the platforms for the forum. Head of Sughd Region Rajabboya Ahmadzoda noted that knowledge of the Russian language helps foster economic ties and integration between the two countries.
First Secretary of the RF Embassy Igor Burulko highlighted the growing interest in education in the Russian language in Tajikistan. He said this is facilitated by the policy of the leadership of Tajikistan and the status of the Russian language, enshrined in the Constitution of Tajikistan.
Head of the Russian House in Khojent Tatyana Mudrova said Tajik citizens show a great interest in learning the Russian language. She noted that 106 schools in Sughd Region alone provide training partially or completely in the Russian language. About 90,000 children study at these schools.
It was announced at the forum that Russian universities have launched the enrolment quota campaign. It will give Tajik students an opportunity to receive higher education in Russia for free.
