Putin and Tokayev highlights importance of annual interregional forums

The leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia held talks and gave a press conference.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the XIX Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Forum. Tokayev focused on the symbolism of the date of the Russian leader’s visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan – on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Treaty on Good Neighbourhood and Alliance in the 21st century, the Telegram channel of Akorda reported.

The two leaders focused on trade, economy and investment. Tokayev and Putin discussed the prospects of cooperation in the industrial and energy sectors and the implementation of the oil and gas projects. The important issues under discussion include the transport and transit sector – the leaders of the two countries agreed to jointly create transport corridors.

The leaders of Russia and Kazakhstan highlighted the need to continue the well-proven practice of regular interregional forums. For example, the main theme of the XIX Forum was agricultural development.
