President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi held a meeting in Dushanbe, during which several documents on cooperation between the countries were signed, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
19 new documents were signed during the high-level meeting and talks, confirming the intention of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations. As was reported, the leaders of Tajikistan and Iran expressed satisfaction with existing cooperation and emphasised the existence of numerous opportunities to expand and boost it.
The documents signed in Dushanbe include a joint statement, memoranda of understanding on visa abolition, transportation through Chabahar Port and cooperation between rescue and anti-drug agencies. The countries signed the action plan to the cooperation programme until 2030.
This is the second visit of the IRI President to Tajikistan. In September 2021, he visited the Republic as a representative of an observer country at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
