Uzbekistan and South Korea cooperate on climate change

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the partnership agreement, which was signed in Tashkent on June 1.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved an agreement between the Governments of Uzbekistan and South Korea on cooperation on climate change. The agreement was signed in Tashkent on June 1, Gazeta.uz reported.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan will be responsible for implementing the agreement. The main goals of the agreement are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and develop climate change adaptation measures.

Furthermore, the Uzbek authorities hope to transit to a new climate resilient economy through cooperation with South Korea.

As was reported, Samarkand will host an international climate forum in 2024. The initiative to hold this event was put forward following Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s working visit to China.
