President of Kazakstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and President of China Xi Jinping held talks on the sidelines of the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, the Telegram channel of Akorda reported.
The talks between the two leaders took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The main issues under discussion include the promotion of economic, energy and transport cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, as well as cooperation in tourism and high technology.
«We have built effective interstate cooperation in all areas. <…> The growth is significant. 52 joint projects with an investment of $21 billion continue to be implemented. 2024 has been declared the Year of Kazakhstani Tourism in China,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said during the talks with Xi Jinping.
The meeting resulted in the signing of international documents, including a memorandum of cooperation in economic development, an agreement on the trans-Caspian transport route and a memorandum of understanding in construction of the Tacheng-Ayagoz railway, among others.
