World Tourism Organization holds session of UNWTO General Assembly in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek leader discussed the outcomes of bilateral cooperation with the WTO Secretary-General during the event.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a working meeting with UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili during the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The UNWTO Secretary-General arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the important high-level event, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The interlocutors noted the significant progress of cooperation in the tourism sector. President Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for promoting and popularizing the Tourism on the Silk Road brand. Zurab Pololikashvili thanked the Uzbek leader for his assistance in organising the 25th General Assembly.

More than 140 countries took part in the forum, which testifies to a growing interest in the tourism industry and Uzbekistan as a tourist centre. As was reported, within the framework of the 25th session, a wide variety of forums will be held focusing on education and investment to allow participants to exchange experiences and attract investments to develop the tourism sector. This illustrates Uzbekistan’s willingness to create a conducive environment to boost the tourism industry.
