Kyrgyz education demanded among Uzbek and Indian students

Last year, 46,000 citizens of the CIS countries studied in the Republic.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan reported to CentralAsia.news that in 2022, about 46,000 children from the CIS countries studied in the Republic. Another 25,000 students arrived from foreign countries.

According to Press Secretary of the Ministry Gulmira Umetalieva, official statistics show that the largest portion of students at educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan comes from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as from India and Pakistan.

However, young citizens of Kyrgyzstan prefer studying in Russia.

«We can judge the demand for education in foreign countries by the number of education fairs arranged by international and private organisations,» the Press Secretary said.

A thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan use admission quotas to enter Russian universities every year. This work is done jointly with Rossotrudnichestvo under the intergovernmental agreements between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. The number of foreign students is determined by a quota: they study for free.
