On October 13, a meeting between President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Russian leader Vladimir Putin is scheduled to take place, Sputnik refers to the statement by Aide to the President of the Russian Federation for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov.
According to the diplomat, the two leaders will discuss a number of issues, including bilateral relations, regional security, in particular the situation on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border and the role of Russian military base 201 in ensuring stability in the region.
The bilateral meeting will take place before the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
The two leaders held a telephone conversation a week ago: Emomali Rahmon congratulated his Russian counterpart on his birthday. The interlocutors highly evaluated the current level of bilateral relations. Putin and Rahmon have not met in person for more than a year.
