Consistent measures to ensure food security of Kazakhstan were an issue under discussion during the meeting of the Security Council. Quality of food products and access of citizens of the country to food were set as a key priority, the Telegram channel of Akorda reported.
Speaking about the measures to enhance food independence of Kazakhstan, the participants focused on price transparency, development and support of agriculture, prevention of soil degradation, infrastructure support for production, counteraction to intermediaries, etc.
«Subsidies should work towards improving productivity in the agricultural sector. The distribution of subsidies needs to consider the features of regions, the area of lands under crops and the choice of crops,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.
Following the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan gave the Government specific instructions to enhance food independence, increase access to food and fulfil other tasks set during the meeting.
