Samarkand will host the 21st session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification at the Silk Road Congress Hall on November 13-17. The main aim of the large-scale event is to conduct consultations for the parties to the Convention on the assessment of the implementation of the Convention in different regions, the press office of the Ministry of Environment of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
Consultations of the parties to the Convention for Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Northern Mediterranean and Central and Eastern Europe will be convened as part of the event.
The participants will present their updates on specific methods and approaches used to support the parties to the Convention.
Furthermore, the Intergovernmental Working Group on effective policy and implementation measures for addressing drought will present its achievements and progress report for consideration. Participatory consultations on the conclusions and recommendations of the independent assessment will be conducted to identify possible future action to further enhance the implementation of the UNCCD 2018-2030 Strategic Framework.
