Uzbekistan to launch production of Chinese electric vehicles

BYD is planning to supply new electric buses to the country in the future.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation and CEO Wang Chuanfu of the Chinese manufacturing company BYD. The parties discussed practical aspects of expanding the operations of the world’s biggest electric vehicle and NG battery manufacturers in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

They talked about the intention of the Chinese company to launch the production of hybrid and electric cars in Jizzakh Region with an option to increase production capacity to 300,000 vehicles per year at the next stages.

«The participants also discussed the localization of component and spare part production, which will allow reducing the cost of cars and exporting them to the markets of foreign countries,» the press office reports the details of the talks.

The company’s representatives emphasised the possibility of supplying their electric buses to Uzbekistan. The Chinese conglomerate manufacturing company is planning to set up a network of engineering and maintenance centres in the country that will provide technical support for its vehicles.
