On September 22, an extended meeting on the measures for reducing disaster risks caused by natural hazards took place at the National Library of Tajikistan, the press office of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of Tajikistan reports.
The heads of ministries and departments of the Republic and the representatives of international organisations attended the meeting. The main issues under discussion included the implementation of the state medium-term disaster risk reduction programme for 2023-2028.
The participants discussed hydrometeorological forecasting and geological hazard monitoring. Measures to reduce disaster risks, including scientific and technical support for design and construction as a component of seismic risk reduction, were proposed.
The heads of ministries and departments of Tajikistan emphasised the importance of protecting health institutions and schools. The Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of Tajikistan expressed gratitude to the international partners for providing assistance.
