RF Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin met with Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Dauren Abaev to discuss the role of sport in fostering a dialogue between the two countries, the press office of the RF Ministry of Sports reports.
Oleg Matytsin noted that Russia actively builds and promotes new formats of international sporting events, and invited Kazakh athletes to take part in such events that will take place in Russia in 2024. He expressed hope for broad representation of Kazakh athletes at competitions, including the Games of the Future, the BRICS Games in Kazan and the Friendship Games in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
In 2024, Kazakhstan will chair the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. In this regard, Matytsin proposed working jointly the idea of holding the SCO Sports Games during Kazakhstan’s chairmanship. This practice has been successfully applied in the CIS Member States. Recently, athletes have performed at the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus.
Dauren Abaev informed that the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan was separated into two departments. Now there is the Ministry of Tourism and Sports headed by Ermek Marzhikpayev.
