President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with IRI President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi at the General Debate of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
Rahmon and Raisi expressed satisfaction with the current level of a dialogue between the two countries. They believe that cooperation needs to continue, particularly in the trade, economic, transport and other sectors. It is important to expand air traffic between Tajikistan and Iran and ease a visa regime.
The interlocutors considered strengthening Tajik-Iranian relations and discussed the current regional and international issues. The leaders of the two states emphasised the importance of the implementation of the Programme of Tajikistan-Iran Economic and Trade Cooperation until 2030 and the continuation of the effective activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission to achieve common goals.
The two leaders emphasised their interest in restoring peace and stability in Afghanistan, given the proximity of these countries.
