Bishkek bans herringbone parking

Officials have compiled a list of streets where car parking interferes with traffic flows.

The authorities of Bishkek are set to ban herringbone parking on the central streets. This measure aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city, the press office of the authorities of Bishkek reported.

The No stopping signs may appear on Bokonbaev, Moskovskaya, Logvinenko, Panfilov, Shopokov, Tynystanov, Ibraimov and Toktogul Streets. However, car parking parallel with the edge of the roadway won’t be banned.

Another problem is chaotic car parking at the TSUM shopping centre, where the parking prohibition signs will be installed as well. However, there is no information about whether the ban will be imposed on municipal parking.

The officials visited the centre of the capital city to inspect the quality of sidewalks. There were also many complaints about their quality. For example, the new sidewalk on Bokonbaev Street has caused a lot of criticism. The officials instructed the Bishkekasfaltservis Municipal Enterprise to comply with quality construction requirements and construction schedule.
