President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has visited the Republican Olympic Training Centre in Almaty region early this week, the Telegram channel of the President of Kazakhstan reported.
He inspected the progress of construction works on the Olympic Training Centre that is one of the largest sports facilities in the CIS. Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev reported that the construction of an athletic arena, an ice arena, a multifunctional sports hall, a rhythmic and artistic gymnastics hall, an administrative building and a hotel has been completed.
The President inspected the infrastructure the Training Centre that comprises 9 indoor sports facilities and is designed for 2,300 athletes. It will host training sessions, wellness events and competitions.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of promoting mass and youth sports. He emphasised that the efforts should focus on the preparations for the Olympic Games and other world and regional tournaments. The President supported the construction of sports facilities and urged to continue enhancing the sports potential.
Before leaving the construction site, Tokayev met with young athletes and wished them new achievements.
