Uzbekistan halves time required for customs clearance on its borders

The positive changes have been won through digital transformation in the sector in accordance with the Decree of the President.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Customs Clearance Centre that has opened recently on the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic. The Uzbek leader noted that the customs reform has made it possible to significantly reduce the time required for customs clearance on the borders of the country; it was halved, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The President visited the divisions of the Customs Clearance Centre, including a data processing centre, a call centre, targeting and risk management departments and a remote electronic declaration post. It was noted that the digitalization and automation of customs processes, done in accordance with the Decree of the President, have allowed reducing the time required for customs clearance.

President Mirziyoyev highly evaluated the conditions at the Customs Clearance Centre, noting that this is an important step to improve customs services. However, he emphasised that digital transformation is a dynamic process that requires continuous development and improvement. The President noted that entrepreneurs, who work with customs on a daily basis, should give final assessment to the customs clearance system. He expressed hope that the time required for customs clearance would be reduced further, which would contribute to creating a more enabling business environment and boosting the national economy.
