President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev participated in the High-Level Dialogue session, held in the framework of the BRICS Plus of the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, the Telegram channel of Akorda reports.
In his speech, Tokayev stressed that this event is taking place amid rising global tensions: a confrontation is currently on the rise, and numerous sanctions are being imposed. He urged to transform the Shanghai Cooperation Organization into a new, more effective structure capable of responding to modern challenges. The SCO Member States have significant human and natural resources, their economies are developing rapidly, and over the decades of existence, the SCO has accumulated valuable experience in promoting multilateral relations and cooperation at the regional level.
The President of Kazakhstan urged to join efforts in several areas. These include the search for an acceptable formula for peace and stability, as well as security, based on the UN Charter. To do this, he put forward the initiative to maintain peace and stability, as well as establish an effective international political and economic international order.
