Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev on working visit to Vietnam

Several agreements have been reached, including those aimed at boosting trade and economic cooperation.

Significant progress in bilateral relations was achieved during the visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to Vietnam on August 20-22. The meeting with President Vo Van Thuong confirmed friendly relations between the two countries and allowed the two leaders to express satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations, the Akorda Telegram channel reported.

The interlocutors noted the importance of a trustful political dialogue and expressed their intention to build up mutual understanding and trust through intensifying the exchange of delegations at all levels. This includes contacts between parties, governments and parliaments, as well as cultural ties between the peoples.

A key aspect of bilateral interaction is trade and economic cooperation. The two leaders emphasised the need to promote mutual access to the markets of Kazakhstan and Vietnam. In this context, the possibility of using effective mechanisms to bolster mutually beneficial trade, including through increasing container transportation between the two countries, is being considered.

The sides discussed such potential areas of cooperation as tourism, information technology, agriculture, transport and logistics. These areas have a high development potential and can help strengthen ties between Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
