President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. This year, 5 athletes are representing the Republic at the world championships, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.
The competitions started on August 19 and will continue until August 27. Over 2,000 athletes from more than 190 countries are taking part at this year’s championships.
Uzbekistan has sent 5 athletes to the championships, who are performing in marathon, triple jump, heptathlon, long jump and high jump. The winners of the competitions will take part in the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Uzbek leader met with the leaders of other countries during his visit. Together with them, he watched the men’s 100 m final of the World Championships. The leaders exchanged views on topical issues of international politics and cooperation.
