Russian businesses are ready to contribute to the development of Tajikistan’s tourism industry and share their best practices and competencies. During the talks with the Chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region Mirzonabot Alisher Khudoberdi, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitry Volvach expressed readiness to bolster cooperation with the Association of Tour Operators in Russia to promote tourism products in Tajikistan, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation reported.
Volvach noted that Russian businesses and investors need to be attracted to develop Tajikistan’s tourism industry. Moreover, a list of reliable travel companies in Tajikistan and tourist places to visit should be made.
Currently, tourist arrivals from Russia to Tajikistan are growing. Compared to the pre-COVID 2019 period, the number of tourists travelling from the Russian Federation to Tajikistan has tripled. The number of tourists from Tajikistan to Russia has grown as well, though less — twice.
The Governments of the two countries agreed to work together to boost the growth in tourist arrivals. By 2024, up to 500,000 tourists from Russia are expected to travel to the Republic.
