Uzbekistan is setting up an improved primary care system — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the Decree. Doctors will attend short-term courses on the most prevalent diseases in their region, NUZ.UZ reports.

The authorities will determine the guaranteed amount of state-financed medical care at the district and city scale for the most prevalent diseases in the region.

An important aspect of the Decree is the opening of the Academy of Nursing at the Public Health College. The medical universities will train nurses of the highest qualification.

Doctors will study and improve their professional skills in a digital format. State and non-state healthcare institutions will be connected to the specialised data network of the Ministry of Health.

The Centre for Pharmaceutical Safety, the Centre for Qualifications Assessment of Health and Pharmaceutical Workers and the Centre for Licensing and Accreditation of Healthcare Organisations will be set up by the end of 2023.
