ADB highly evaluates renewable power generation capacity of Tajikistan

The President of Tajikistan and the ADB President discussed the prospects for building up bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.

On June 12, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa. The interlocutors exchanged views on the current state and prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, the press office of the President’s Office reported to CentralAsia.news.

Noting the profound capacity of Tajikistan to generate and export renewable energy and develop a «green economy», the ADB President confirmed the Bank’s support for the initiatives and significant contribution of Tajikistan to the global climate agenda.

The interlocutors emphasised that the key areas of bilateral cooperation include the development of the energy industry and climate change mitigation.

Given the current difficult situation in the modern world and its growing impacts, the interlocutors were unanimous that timely joint measures need to be taken to prevent and mitigate risks and negative factors on Tajikistan’s economy.
