President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov in Dushanbe. The interlocutors focused on protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens of the Republic, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
Rahmon stressed that the authorities are taking specific measures to increase tolerance among nations and religions. Particular attention is paid to respecting the rights of citizens of Tajikistan without distinction as to nationality, religion and language.
The interlocutors considered expanding cooperation between Tajikistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the field of human rights. Rahmon emphasised that this cooperation is open and constructive. The President highlighted the importance of the OSCE High Commissioner’s work.
In March, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the Alliance of Women Parliamentarians held a roundtable on gender equality.
