Leaders of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan hold talks in Astana

The meeting took place during the state visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Kazakhstan.

On May 4, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held talks with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Akorda during the state visit of the Tajik leader to Kazakhstan, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reports.

The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on the ways of building up strategic bilateral cooperation during the one-to-one talks, which took place after the official ceremony of greeting the distinguished guest. They emphasised that the peoples of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have common cultural, historical and spiritual roots. It is symbolic that the Declaration on Allied Cooperation will be signed on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Highlighting the progress in promoting trade and economic cooperation and boosting bilateral trade, President Tokayev noted that a solid package of documents aimed at building up economic partnerships would be signed during the current visit of the President of Tajikistan.

An exchange of views on the prospects for bolstering cooperation in agriculture, industry and transport took place.

The leaders of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan held expanded talks with the government delegations of the two states.

The parties focused on the prospects for strengthening trade and economic ties and cooperation in digitalization, transport and agriculture. Among other things, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev noted the high level of cultural interaction between the two countries.

Following the expanded talks, the parties signed 9 bilateral documents and agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in priority areas.
