ADB and EBRD have financed 325 projects worth $2.85 billion in Tajikistan

This statement was made at a meeting of the President of Tajikistan with the Vice-Presidents of the banks.

On June 6, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received Vice President of the Asian Development Bank Shixin Chen and Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Mark Bowman in Dushanbe. The parties discussed the progress of bilateral cooperation and future partnership plans, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.

The parties emphasised that over 24 years of cooperation, ADB has financed 175 investment projects in Tajikistan totally worth over $2 billion, including 17 projects in the transport, energy, agricultural, health and education sectors.

As of today, EBRD has allocated a funding envelope of over $850 million to Tajikistan. The funds were used to implement 150 projects. 

Emomali Rahmon and the Vice-Presidents of the banks discussed key aspects of cooperation in the hydropower sector and measures to be taken to prevent the spread of a new strain of the pandemic coronavirus. The talks focused on the importance of further infrastructural development of the Republic as well.
