Turkmenistan continues construction of Akina-Andkhoy railway in Afghanistan

The railroad is expected to be completely laid within a month.

Engineers and specialists of the railway industry from Turkmenistan arrived in the Afghan village Akina. They continued the laying of the railway line going from the small town to Andkhoy. Relevant work is carried out under the concluded agreement. It was reported by the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The document on the resumption of construction of the railway line was signed by the Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways) agency and the Afghan Railways Organization.

The specialists brought all the necessary tools and equipment. They must complete the laying of the remaining 800 meters of the railroad. The total length of the route is 30 kilometers. The work is expected to be completed in about 30 days.

The construction of the Akina-Andkhoy railway line started on July 25, 2019. The road was not finished completely due to a number of reasons. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that one of them is the restrictions imposed amid the spread of COVID-19 in the world.
