President of Kazakhstan and SCO Secretary General discuss security issues

The parties also considered the progress of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation and key aspects of the SCO’s activities.

On June 3, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming. The parties considered bilateral partnerships in such priority areas as regional security, as well as the intensification of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations. They also discussed key aspects of the SCO’s activities in the current geopolitical situation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

“Addressing the SCO Summit in Bishkek, I said the Organization is the most successful among international organisations. The SCO also aims to make a major contribution to the improvement of the international situation. Therefore, Kazakhstan will continue to take an active part its activities and contribute to building up the SCO’s potential,” Tokayev said, addressing Zhang Ming.

The foreign diplomat commended Kazakhstan for its achievements in the social and economic development and the reforms implemented under the leadership of Tokayev. In this context, he noted the huge contribution and active involvement of Kazakhstan in building capacities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
