On March 30, the Embassy of the United States of America in Tajikistan announced the launch of a $900,000 project to support the Drug Control Agency of Tajikistan, the press office of the US diplomatic mission in the Republic reports.
The project will focus on enhancing the capacity of the specialized unit and laboratory, as well as other departments and divisions of the DCA of Tajikistan. The project is expected to last 24 months at a cost of $900,000.
Director of the Drug Control Agency Habibullo Vohidzoda had a meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General, UNODC Executive Director Ghada Fathi Waly as part of his working trip to Vienna.
Given the growing threats and risk from Afghanistan, including illicit drug and firearms trafficking, terrorist and extremist activities, human trafficking and other transnational crimes, the Director of the Agency called on the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to provide material and technical assistance to the authorized bodies of the Republic.
