Kazakhstan and EBRD consider further prospects of cooperation

The Republic of Kazakhstan and the financial institution have implemented about 300 investment projects over 30 years of partnerships.

On March 15, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov had a meeting with a representative delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), headed by Vice President Alain Pilloux. The parties discussed new routes of joint investment and environmental projects, the press office of the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The partners elaborated on the performance of the European financial institution in Kazakhstan over the past year and discussed in detail the 2022 work plan. They noted that the constructive interaction of the executive bodies and businesses under EBRD infrastructure projects, as well as support for SMEs through the financial, municipal and corporate sectors will continue.

The Prime Minister noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of EBRD-Kazakhstan cooperation, and over this period, strategic contacts have contributed to the implementation of 300 projects worth over US $10 billion.

The interlocutors stated that joint work will continue in accordance with the new EBRD Kazakhstan Country Strategy for 2022-2026. This document aims cooperation at increasing competitiveness in the entrepreneurial sector and supporting green policies, carbon neutrality and gender equality.
