Kazakhstan stands ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

Tokayev and Steinmeier exchanged views on the Ukrainian issues and the situation in this country.

On March 7, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The interlocutors discussed the current situation in Ukraine and agreed to continue bilateral contacts on the Ukrainian issues, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Kazakh leader emphasised that all countries are to strictly adhere to the norms and principles of the UN Charter. He noted that the crisis in Ukraine was increasingly complicated, but new diplomatic ways and opportunities need to be found to resolve this conflict peacefully, which will help reduce harm to civilians and will not allow civilian infrastructure in Ukraine to be destroyed completely.

The President of Kazakhstan said he is ready to provide humanitarian aid, including medicines and other products, to citizens of Ukraine, noting that the routes to transport humanitarian aid to Ukraine were currently being considered. He also noted that the Government of Kazakhstan had helped evacuate 435 citizens of Kazakhstan and over 650 European nationals to their country of origin.
