Tokayev emphasised that Kazakhstan would make every effort so that such a situation would never happen again in the country in the future.

On February 13, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in a ceremony at the Khazret Sultan Mosque to commemorate the victims of the January tragedy. The Kazakh leader emphasised that such events should not happen again in the country, and all measures would be taken to preserve peace and security of the people, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

“We repulsed the terrorists and repelled their onslaught. Unfortunately, this turmoil claimed the lives of many citizens. This is a tragedy. I have instructed the relevant authorities to investigate thoroughly each case. I regard protection of human rights of crucial importance,” the President said.

Noting that the National Day of Mourning had been declared in the Republic, Tokayev said he had arrived at the mosque to remember and honour the lives lost in the tragic events with a prayer. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and stated that the families who had suffered great losses would receive material assistance.
