Tajikistan allows duty-free imports of foods and gasoline

Mineral fertilizers and diesel fuel will be also exempted from import duty.

On February 10, the lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan held a regular meeting of the third session. The parliamentarians approved amendments to the regulatory act on Amendments to the Law of Tajikistan for 2022 that would provide for preferential tariff treatment of certain commodities, the press office of the Parliament reports.

In accordance with the regulatory act, food products, mineral fertilizers, diesel fuel and gasoline will be exempted from import duty, value added tax and excises.

This agreement was adopted by the Agency on State Material Reserves under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Deputy Minister of Finance Karim Gulmurodzoda noted that these goods would replenish state reserves in future. The stocks of the Agency allow avoiding raising prices on commodities even if prices in the local commodity market sharply increase.

As of now, there is no official information confirming the number of commodities which are eligible for relief from import duties in Tajikistan.
