On February 6, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov attended the XXIV Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony during his working visit to Beijing. A Kyrgyz skier Maxim Gordeev carried the flag of Kyrgyzstan during the Parade of Nations, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.
Japarov met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping during the visit. The President of Kyrgyzstan noted that he considered it a great honour to visit Beijing to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan-China relations are built on the principles of genuine equality, mutual trust and benefit. He thanked the Chinese side for providing the invaluable continued support.
They discussed bilateral relations in the political, trade and economic spheres, as well as the attraction of investments in large-scale joint projects.
Following the meeting, the leaders of the two countries signed a Joint Statement and a number of important documents aimed at building up Kyrgyzstan-China cooperation.
