Tokayev invites Xi Jinping to visit Kazakhstan in September 2022

The leader of Kazakhstan believes that the visit of the President of China will give a strong impetus to strategic cooperation between the countries.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during his working trip to China to attend the XXIV Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. The President of Kazakhstan confirmed the readiness to continue close cooperation to reinforce progress towards boosting bilateral relations and invited the interlocutor to pay a working visit to Kazakhstan in September this year. Tokayev expressed belief that the visit would give a strong impetus to expand strategic cooperation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The leaders of the two states focused on concerted efforts to deepen trade and economic relations. In this context, the Kazakh side stressed that despite the coronavirus pandemic, bilateral trade turnover grew by 15.2% over the past year, amounting to US$ 18.2 billion.

The leader of Kazakhstan also noted that the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative was a priority task. He emphasised that Kazakhstan was interested in intensifying cooperation in such areas as digital technologies, transport and logistics.
