Son of the President of Tajikistan receives a prestigious award

Rustam Emomali is the first winner of the Wild Sheep Foundation Award.

The son of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe and Chairman of the upper house of Parliament Rustam Emomali is the first winner of the Award of the Wild Sheep Foundation for his significant contribution to conservation of Pamir Marco Polo Argali, the press office of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan reported on February 1.

The name Rustam Emomali was announced first at an event in Reno, Nevada, United States of America. It should be noted that the above award is presented only to citizens of one the Argali range states.

The Mayor of Dushanbe received the award for his proposal for the regulation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in Tajikistan. Through the efforts of the son of Emomali Rahmon, the export of endangered plants and animals, which used to be done illegally and uncontrollably, had decreased in the country.

Currently, about 25,000 mountain sheep and 4,000 markhors live on the territory of the Central Asian republic.
