Alikhan Smailov tasks to speed up compensation payments to entrepreneurs

A comprehensive audit found 351 facilities had been damaged, of which 306 facilities belong to entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov tasked the heads of major government agencies and regions to speed up compensation payments for material damages to self-employed small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) during a meeting at the Government's Digital Office, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

It was reported that 351 facilities had been damaged during the January riots, and they need repair and renovation. Of these, 45 buildings belong to state institutions and 306 commercial facilities. According to preliminary estimates, the damage to SMEs amounted to 98.1 billion tenge. Businesses in Almaty were most affected by the events, and this is 97%.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Industry and the akimats of the regions to complete the technical inspection of damaged buildings and estimate the costs of repair and renovation works in a timely manner and submit the findings to the Ministry of Finance.

The Prime Minister tasked the Government Commission to assess looting and submit the complete list of the businesses hit by unrest to the Ministry of Economy.
