Mirziyoyev visits construction site of factory at Almalyk complex

The facility will house the grinding, crushing, flotation, hydrometallurgical processing, repair and waste management departments.

On December 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the progress of construction works on the 3rd copper ore processing plant at the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex. The new factory will house the ore warehouses and the grinding, crushing, flotation, hydrometallurgical processing, repair and waste management departments and other facilities, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

Mirziyoyev instructed to accelerate the construction works on the factory and put it into operation by the end of 2023. The development plans of the Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex for the period until 2030 were discussed. The JORC Code estimates show that copper reserves of the Almalyk complex are estimated at 45 million tonnes, gold reserves – at over 5 tonnes and silver reserves – at up to 343 tonnes. These reserves will enable to bring   the production up to US$8 billion per year. It was noted that the reforms at the Almalyk complex should focus on digitalising management procedures, production and logistics and increasing operational efficiency.

“The crucial task is to introduce a modern management system at the plant in the next two years, which will turn it into one of the world leaders in metallurgy, the company capable of operating without state support,” the President of Uzbekistan said.
