President of Kazakhstan reviews first results of population census

The total population of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 19,169,550.

On December 8, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Prime Minister Askar Mamin. The agenda focused on the first results of the national population census, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

This year’s large-scale survey of the population of the country was carried out from September 1 to October 30. The Prime Minister reported that the total population of the Republic of Kazakhstan was 19,169,550, based on the population counts.

Data on the age and sex composition of the population shows that the male population represents 48.71% and the female population – 51.29%; the median age of the population ranges from 31 years to 94 years. Children under the age of 17 represent almost 34%, young people under the age of 28 – 19.72%. Ethnic Kazakhs represent 70.18% of the total population.

Askar Mamin informed that the share of the working age population was 11,320,410, or 59.05% of the total population of Kazakhstan.
