On November 28, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin delivered a speech at the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and held talks with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during his visit to Ashgabat, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.
The Kazakh politician noted that the trade between Kazakhstan and the ECO Member States showed a progressive trend and increased by 31%, amounting to US$ 8.2 billion over the past 9 months.
Askar Mamin put forward a number of proposals, including the development of the ECO trade facilitation roadmap and food security concept, which should provide for the creation of joint production facilities in the agricultural sector.
The emphasis was placed on the need to continue to build beneficial and complementary routes across the geography of the ECO. In this regard, Mamin said that meant creating complementary rather than competing transport and transit corridors. Such a practice would be one of the key generations of sustainable development of national economies in the future, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said.
The talks between Askar Mamin and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on key aspects of partnerships between the two states in the economic, investment, energy, transport and agricultural sectors. Particular importance was attached to the agreements signed during the recent visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan.
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan held meetings with Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shakhim Abdyrakhmanov to discuss the agenda of further economic relations.
